Position: Child Care Assistant
Location: Various/TBD
Reports To: Early Childhood Coordinator
An Early Childhood Assistant Teacher must be a team player, enthusiastic, and nurturing. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working with preschoolers. Monday through Friday position, approximately 20 hours a week. Up to 35-42 weeks a year, depending on the classroom.
Qualifications:
- At least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Annually maintain current CPR and first aid certification
- Maintains a positive working relationship with parents/guardians and staff
- Discretion with confidential information
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and administrative guidelines
- Must be able to pass a criminal history and childcare background check
Responsibilities:
- Provide support to one/all of the following departments; Nursery, Preschool, Full Day Childcare
- Assist in the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises in compliance with the curriculum for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom goals and objectives
- Follow the directions of supervising teacher
- Assist students individually or in small groups
- Assist in the supervision of students during daily instructional activities
- Assist in managing student discipline through the use of positive reinforcement strategies
- Respect the confidentiality of the teacher, students, and parents
- Maintain a working knowledge of school routines, emergency procedures, and school discipline policy
- Perform other related duties as assigned
